The "We're Very Busy" Weekly Update

Not the "look how busy we are" kind of busy, more of the kind where you look at the clock and somehow it's 9 pm, you've answered what feels like hundreds of emails, made a dozen tiny timeline adjustments, followed up with vendors, unpacked one wedding just to start packing the next one, made three trips to the storage unit, and somehow your house still looks like a tornado came through because folding the laundry just never made it onto today's list.

Wedding season is in full swing!

There's still plenty of time to work on the business, learn new things, improve our systems, and dream about what's next. A little less time to sit down and write thoughtful blog posts every week, so today you get a photo and a life update instead.

This week alone we're heading to two weddings:

First up is Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach, which has quickly become one of our favorite places to work. Amazing team, beautiful venue, incredible couples, and approximately seven pounds of sand that I'll inevitably bring home in my shoes, pockets, and hair.

Then we're off to Victorian Belle, which is always a little emotional for us because that's where Sasha and I got married. It's impossible to walk around that venue without remembering our own wedding day, and getting to help another couple celebrate there is really special every single time.

On the business side, we're also getting very close to something we've been quietly working toward all year.

Back in January we set ourselves what felt like a ridiculously ambitious revenue goal. One of those goals where you write the number down and immediately think, "Well... we'll see." We're almost there!

And we still have until July 1, plus three consultations already on the calendar before then. Whether we make it or not, we're incredibly proud of how far Silk & Shadows has come in such a short time.

Anyway, enough typing. We have timelines to review, décor to pack, and probably a few last-minute Amazon orders to place.

Here's one of our favorite photos of us from Chelsea & Cam's summer garden wedding at Blockhouse PDX, courtesy of the magical Jessica Keaveny. We clean up pretty well when we're not carrying bins and extension cords!

Ava Darcy

Ava is the force that brings the Silk & Shadows aesthetic to life. With a background in community leadership, operations, and creative direction, she brings clarity and structure to even the most complex events. Her gift is turning a couple’s ideas into a fully realized visual and emotional experience that feels intentional from the first impression to the final exit.

She specializes in dark romantic and non-traditional styling, with an eye for rich textures, candlelit atmosphere, and immersive details. Her work combines elegance with mood, creating weddings that feel both cinematic and deeply personal.

As a planner and coordinator, Ava is steady, thoughtful, and endlessly organized. Couples often describe her as the calm in the storm. She believes great events come from listening closely, planning carefully, and caring about people as much as the details.

Ava leads every project with kindness, confidence, and a commitment to making the planning journey as beautiful as the celebration itself.
