What We Do in the Shadows
If you've noticed that our social media has been a little quieter lately, first of all, thank you for noticing!
Second, we promise we're still here.
The truth is that wedding season hit us much harder and much faster than we expected this year. When we launched Silk & Shadows, we intentionally opened only a limited number of 2026 dates. We were a new business, we were still figuring out exactly what our workflows should look like, how many weddings we could realistically take on while maintaining our standards, and what growth would actually mean for us.
Apparently, the answer was "more than we thought." Somewhere along the way, those dates quietly disappeared from our calendar. We looked up recently and realized we're down to only 2-3 available dates for the remainder of 2026. That feels absolutely wild to write, and we're incredibly grateful. Also very tired. Also very excited. Also slightly confused about how this happened so quickly.
Most of our days lately have been spent balancing three things at once: taking care of the couples who trusted us enough to book us, continuing to improve how we operate behind the scenes, and trying to think ahead instead of constantly reacting to what's happening right now. It's a lot of moving pieces! Social media ended up being the thing that got pushed aside.
The funny part is that while we've been posting less, we've actually been creating more than ever. May alone gave us some genuinely beautiful weddings, amazing couples, and so many photos and videos that we can't wait to share. We have entire weddings sitting on our phones and hard drives waiting for their turn. So if you've been following along for décor inspiration, planning advice, behind-the-scenes chaos, pretty wedding photos, or Sasha being Sasha, there's a lot coming.
Also! You'll probably also notice that things are starting to look a little different around here. We've been working on a visual refresh for our social media and marketing materials. Not a rebrand. Not a complete overhaul. More like growing into ourselves a little: the same Silk & Shadows colors., the same slightly moody, romantic, occasionally dramatic personality, just a cleaner, more elegant presentation that feels closer to who we are today than who we were when we first launched.
A year ago we were wondering if anyone would hire us. Today we're looking at a nearly full 2026 calendar, filling up 2027, talking about growing the team, and preparing for some really exciting projects that we can't share quite yet.
We're still taking a minute to process all of it, but mostly, we're just thankful to every couple who trusted us, every venue that welcomed us, every vendor who collaborated with us, and everyone who follows along, likes a post, leaves a comment, shares our name, or recommends us to a friend.
We're excited about what's next, and we're excited to start posting again.
