We’ve got some news we’re really excited about. Silk & Shadows was named a 2026 WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award winner during our very first year on the platform, and honestly, that feels pretty surreal.

For anyone who isn’t familiar, the Couples’ Choice Award is given to wedding pros who consistently receive 5-star reviews from real couples. It’s not decided by a panel or judges. It’s based entirely on client experiences, which is why this kind of recognition means so much to us as a Portland wedding planner team. Knowing our couples took the time to share their experiences working with us as their wedding planner in Portland is the real win.

We’ll also keep it real. WeddingWire had a few ups and downs for us while getting started. Like any platform, there was a learning curve, but we stuck with it, and we’re genuinely glad we did. Being listed alongside other talented Portland wedding vendors and Oregon wedding professionals is something we’re proud of.

More than anything, we hope this helps us connect with couples who are looking for something a little different. Ava has never been very good at leaving things "good enough." She's always looking for ways to make them a little better, a little prettier, or a little more thoughtful. That's probably why she fell in love with wedding planning.

She believes the best weddings aren't the biggest or the most expensive. They're the ones where every decision feels intentional and every guest walks away thinking, "That was so them."

She's happiest somewhere between a beautifully organized spreadsheet and a room full of candles, making sure everything comes together exactly as it should.
