Meet Ava & Sasha

Silk & Shadows is more than a company, it is a romance that took 40 years to blossom. Founded by us, Ava D’arcy and Sasha Mereu, our love story is one of magic and mysterious happenstance. Born 28 days apart on opposite sides of the planet; one in the frozen tundra of the former USSR above the Arctic Circle; the other in sunny Southern California within walking distance of the beach.

She – an analytical introvert and systems prodigy whose passionate organization of information and procedure led her far away from her village. He – a voraciously curious extrovert with a love of performance art and creativity which led him to grace stages around the world as magician, thespian, and minstrel. We both wandered for 25 years, each unaware of the other’s existence until a chance meeting in the Pacific Northwest, which began with a fleeting glance and ended with “I do” at the end of the aisle.

One not only balances the other, but compliments and enhances those skills and passions that each brought with us to our relationship, each contributing love and joy until our combined skills and interests gave birth to Silk & Shadows, a professional manifestation of our desire to create for others what we had finally found – happily ever after. With a focus on design-forward offerings and dark Victorian aesthetics inspired by an appreciation of the autumnal elements of life, Silk & Shadows seeks to craft unforgettable experiences which will resonate for a lifetime.
